Earth-restoring, plant-based stretch fabric for cleaner, greener, body and skin-friendly activewear.
Taurenna is a proprietary fabric made from 91% regeneratively-grown hemp plant fibers. Those words alone say a lot.
"Regeneratively-grown"
Our current batch of hemp fibers was grown on 49 acres of tropical land in Thailand in such a way as to restore nutrients, increase organic carbon content, and rebuild biodiversity, both below and above the surface.
Before planting, the seeds were inoculated with a mycorrhizal fungi blend. As the hemp's deep taproots spread downward, the symbiotic fungi travel with them and help rebuild the underground nutrient exchange networks that healthy soils depend on. We use no pesticides or fertilizers. After we harvest the plants for fiber, the enriched soil can be replanted with native species, bringing back the biodiversity of the forests and the habitats they provide.
Soil regeneration is what makes forest restoration possible. It is not something we do for show with a wavering 1% donation. It is built directly into the starting point of our supply chain. We cannot make anything without doing that work, and your support of this fabric fuels that restoration.
No one else has built rainforest soil regeneration into the foundation of their supply chain in the way we have. When you wear Valinor, you're joining this movement.
"Regenerated fiber"
Our fibers are made with an environmentally-friendly, closed-loop Lyocell-type process.
In practice, this means we re-organize and re-align the plant fiber molecules during the fiber-making process, so that we can physically engineer the natural materials at a molecular level for the performance and properties activewear needs.
Regenerated cellulose does not mean recycled or regrown. It means cellulose in, cellulose out. The material itself stays unchanged. What gets taken under control is the molecular architecture.
"Proprietary"
On top of the standard process, we have developed proprietary modifications that further improve the environmental footprint while producing fibers that are longer, softer, and more mechanically robust than what a standard Lyocell-type process yields.
The input is regeneratively grown hemp. The chemistry is closed-loop. The output is a fiber engineered for activewear from the molecular level up.
Engineered through architecture,
not through chemistry.
The fabric has a double-knit construction. It gives Taurenna structure, more compression with less elastic content, a heavier weight, extra softness, and makes it squat proof under stretch.
The stretch comes from the knit design and from 9% bio-based elastane partially derived from corn.
The fabric is dyed with non-toxic reactive dyes, which form a permanent covalent bond with the cellulose. The color becomes part of the fiber rather than sitting on top of it.
- ⊘PFAS
- ⊘BPA
- ⊘Formaldehyde
- ⊘Antimicrobials
- ⊘Wicking finishes
- ⊘Chemical softeners
The performance is engineered through the architecture of the fiber and the construction of the fabric. Physics does the work, so chemistry does not have to.
What the fiber does.
Performance properties that come from the fiber itself, not from finishes that wash out, wear off, or sit on the surface of your skin.
Softness
The smooth, circular cross-section of the regenerated fiber feels soft against skin from first wear. No chemical softeners needed.
Moisture management
Sweat is drawn inward into the fiber rather than pooling on the surface of the fabric or against your skin.
Thermoregulation
Cool to the touch on contact and dry against the skin during exertion. Moisture is drawn into the fiber core and released through evaporation, producing a cooling effect when you're working and a drier feel when you're at rest.
Odor control
The hydrophilic surface of the fibers prevents skin oils (sebum) from spreading along the fiber and feeding odor-causing bacteria. The fiber's natural moisture regain holds odor molecules in until laundering. Natural odor resistance, no antimicrobial treatments added.
Skin-friendly
No PFAS. No BPA. No formaldehyde. No antimicrobial treatments. No chemical moisture-wicking finishes. No chemical softeners. The fiber does the work.
Squat-proof
The double-knit construction holds its opacity through a full range of motion.
Dramatically less synthetic shedding
The 91% cellulosic majority of the fabric is plant-based and does not shed synthetic microfiber. The 9% bio-elastane component means the fabric sheds dramatically less than any 100% synthetic garment.
It's not sustainable.
It's regenerative.
We don't call Valinor sustainable. Sustainable means don't make things worse. We're not trying to break even with the planet.
We're actively working to rebuild tropical rainforests, starting from the soil up. Hemp and specific fungi are planted on degraded land. Hemp grows while restoring the soil. Hemp becomes fiber. Fiber becomes the clean activewear you put against your skin. Restored soil is ready to support the rebirth of the forest.
Protection was a direction, not a stance.
We are moving toward the forest in more ways than one. We are restoring soils and forests. We are also running active R&D to go from 91% plant fiber to a 100% plant fiber stretch fabric for activewear. No synthetic polymers. A fully biodegradable garment that begins by bringing life to the soil, and when its time has ended, returns to the soil to feed life again.
This is the path we're on. We invite you to walk it with us.
